On 13 December 2025, Strive Taekwondo proudly took part in The Rising Stars II, an international open tournament organised by Coach Gianluca Barbara from Iron Taekwondo League (Malta) that brought together emerging and established athletes from across the Mediterranean. Hosted at Chiswick House School, the event offered an intimate yet energetic atmosphere, perfectly suited for high‑level competition and meaningful sporting experiences.

Seven clubs from five countries participated, including Iron Taekwondo League (Malta), Taekwondo Invictus (Italy), Brindisi Gold (Italy), Trinacria Taekwondo Team (Italy), Studenti Klub (Albania), ISM (Libya), and our own Strive Taekwondo. With 65 matches contested on a single central court surrounded by spectators, the setup created an engaging environment that highlighted the spirit of Taekwondo—discipline, respect, and perseverance.

Strive Taekwondo was represented by a dedicated group of athletes across multiple age categories: Luke Chircop, Salvatore Riolo, Diego Riolo, Samuel Vella, Jamie Brincat, Zak Kitcher Deguara, Noah Kitcher Deguara, Andrew Catania, Aisha Shembesh Gatt, Alaya Shembesh Gatt, Kendra Magro, Nathan Degiorgio, Bradley Micallef, Ella Scerri, Matthew Vella, Elisa Mollicone, Ruth Cutajar, Alexander Attard, Teodor Palalic, Aleksei Lukin, and Anastasiia Lukina. Each athlete stepped onto the mat with courage and determination, showcasing not only their technical growth but also the character and resilience that define true martial artists. A special mention goes to Sophie Pickard, Xavier Spiteri, and Kane Falzon—athletes who trained wholeheartedly for this competition but, unfortunately, were unable to attend on the day due to illness. Their dedication and effort in the lead‑up to the event do not go unnoticed.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our volunteers—Aretina Chamaleli, Mattea Vassallo, Sasha Slobodian, and Nicole Bunce—whose dedication ensured smooth organisation throughout the day. Special recognition is owed to Jerome Vassallo for his invaluable contribution as a referee, and to Shania Magro, who took on a key coaching role, helping guide and manage our athletes’ matches with focus and care.

To all parents, guardians, siblings, and supporters: your presence and encouragement lifted our athletes and strengthened the sense of unity that defines our club. This community spirit is what makes Strive Taekwondo truly special.

For some athletes, the results may not have matched their hopes, but the bravery shown—fighting through nerves, adapting under pressure, and never giving up—is something to be immensely proud of. These virtues matter far beyond competition; they shape character for life.

To those who couldn’t join, we encourage you to take part in future events. Every experience adds depth to our training and strengthens the bonds within our Strive family.

We are proud of each and every one of you. Together, we continue building something meaningful—one step, one kick, one experience at a time.
